Wedding photography · Sri Lanka
The day, as it actually happened.
Documentary wedding photography across Sri Lanka and wherever else you are getting married. Over a thousand shoots, photographed as they happened.

The short version
You will barely notice me. You will notice the photographs.
I photograph weddings the way a documentary gets filmed. I turn up early, work out where the light and the people are going to be, and then get out of the way.
There is no shot list to grind through and no hour spent arranging relatives in front of a hedge. What comes back is the actual texture of the day. Your uncle mid-anecdote. The ninety seconds before the doors opened. Your mother’s hands.
A camera in my hands since I was five, weddings since December 2020, and somewhere past a thousand shoots. I have still never photographed two weddings that were the same shape.

The work
What I photograph
A selection, grouped by the kind of shoot. Ask and I will send you one whole wedding start to finish, which is the only honest way to judge any of this.
How it goes
Three conversations and one very long day
We talk first
A call with no pitch in it. What your day actually looks like, what you want photographed, and whether we get on. That last one matters more than any portfolio, given I will be standing next to you for ten hours.
I do the homework
I visit your venue, find where the light lands at five, and build a rough running order with you around your nekath. By the morning of the wedding there is nothing left to decide.
Then I disappear
On the day there are two or three of us, early and quiet and mostly behind you. Family groups take fifteen minutes because we planned them properly. The rest of it is yours.
In their words
What couples say
We told him we hated having our photo taken and he said that was fine, then more or less vanished for nine hours. My mother cried at a photograph of her own hands.
Our nekath was at 5:15am. He was at the house before the makeup artist, which I did not think was possible, and he had already worked out where the light was going to come from.
Five hundred photographs and not one of them is a row of relatives standing in front of a hedge. It looks like the day felt, which is all we asked for.
We nearly skipped the homecoming to save money. He talked us into it. The homecoming photographs are the ones on our wall.

I only take a limited number of weddings a year, so that each one gets the whole of my attention. If your date is free I would like to hear about it.
